Auckland University lecturer Margaret Taurere has been recognised for her contribution to increase Māori participation in tertiary education. Margaret is the daughter of Merimeri Penfold, another noted educator and is a member of the Ngāti Kuri Education Governance Committee. She was presented with an award on 11 November 2012 along with four other recipients in an inaugural ceremony held in Wellington.
